We are now inviting applications from final year students and current graduates to be considered for our 2012 graduate development programme. In the last six years, 32 graduates have joined our team and have successfully fast-tracked their careers with us.
Who and what are we looking for?
We are a highly self-motivated team of individuals with diverse experience and backgrounds. What we share is a passion for clear thinking and powerful creativity.
Your degree discipline is not the important factor. What you will need to do is demonstrate that that you can take the initiative, that you are passionate about brands and communication, that you are determined to succeed, that you can think creatively and intelligently, and that you have an engaging personality.
You need to…
We are looking for accuracy (do check for typos and spelling mistakes), passion and potential. Do please consider the qualities we have highlighted when writing your application. Whilst it is essential to have an awareness of who we are when you come for interview, do make sure that your application tells us as much as possible about you and your achievements to date. Please note that applications sent without a “thirst for knowledge” statement will not be accepted.
Claire Majendie manages our graduate recruitment for us and all applications should be sent to her at claire@majendie.com If you have any questions call her on 07919 554229.
The closing date is Sunday, 22 January 2012 (midnight)
All applications require the candidates to work, live and have the right to remain indefinitely in the UK. If you are unable to fulfil this criteria, we very much regret that we cannot accept your application.
What happens next?
A few days after the closing date, Claire will contact all candidates that we would like to invite to the next stage – approx 50. These candidates will be asked to complete an on-line psychometric questionnaire. We will then invite about 25 to come to our offices to learn about us, our work and our clients and meet our staff and the people who were selected to join our graduate programme in 2011 and before. We will try to answer all your questions and you will also have a short interview. This is scheduled for Wednesday, 7 March 2012
12 successful candidates will then be selected to come to a full assessment day.
The Assessment Day – Wednesday, 21 March 2012
The purpose of this day is to simulate as closely as possible some of the activities you will be involved in if you join us. At times you will be working in groups and at others individually. The only thing you have to prepare in advance is your presentation – we will give you a selection of topics to choose from about 7 days in advance.
And you’ll know whether you’ve been successful a few days after that.
The two dates are critical so we do advise making a note of them in your diary in case you are invited to attend. The dates are not flexible and you will be required to attend both of them if you wish to be considered.
And for the successful…
A career in communications begins in September 2012. Our aim is to give you the best possible training and development opportunities that will allow you to flourish in your chosen career. Whilst the development programme formally lasts for one year, our investment is such that we want you to develop a long-term working relationship with us. So, if we think you are good enough to join us you are considered part of our team from the outset and our world is your oyster. Yes, there’s lots of hard work on the way but if you are determined to succeed, then we are determined to help you.
Don’t delay – send your application to claire@majendie.com now!
If so, we’ll answer it (if it isn’t too ridiculous). Blue Rubicon grads from our three most recent intakes are ready to answer your questions about life at the agency. You can reach them using Twitter or Facebook. On Twitter, add the hashtag #brgrads to your Tweet and we’ll hunt it down with Tweetdeck. You can also follow us at @bluerubicon.
On Facebook, simply visit www.facebook.com/bluerubicon and write the question on our wall. And if you don’t get a reply straight away, don’t panic. We’ll get back to you as soon as we can. We’ll probably be working. Or eating cake.
“No-one has to conform to type to be offered a position here. Blue Rubicon is all about its people, and if you join us, you’re guaranteed to be well looked after.”
“Blue Rubicon has a unique atmosphere that is at once businesslike and creative. All employees can attend brainstorm sessions where strategies are developed, enabling us to learn about activity across the agency, and our weekly ‘Brown Bag’ presentations bring experts and their insights into our offices. It is exciting being involved in an agency where our clients are directly involved in the big issues of the day – it gives us the chance to have a meaningful influence.”
“Being a Graduate Trainee at Blue Rubicon doesn’t mean that you will be making tea and developing a meaningful relationship with the photocopier. I’ve found myself sitting in radio studios at 7.30am briefing spokespeople ahead of interviews, practicing presenting a weather forecast at the Met Office and role-playing confrontational journalists as part of a crisis management exercise, as well as the more predictable tasks of writing, presenting, brainstorming and researching. The opportunities that I’ve been offered have kept me inspired and challenged and the wealth of support and training available on the scheme has ensured that these challenges aren’t overwhelming.”
“One thing you can guarantee when you work here is that no two days will ever be the same.”
