Doing our bit

Doing our bit for our community is just as important to us as delivering great campaigns.

Each year we take a break from the nine-to-five to get involved with a local community project or charity.  These have ranged from Turning Point, one of the UK's leading social care organisations to the Hammersmith & Fulham Refugee Forum, which seeks to combat the stereotypes of refugees and asylum seekers in the wake of the London bombings.

We also developed communications strategies for Access Sport and Look Good Feel BetterAccess Sport uses the exisiting clubs network to get young people involved in grass roots sport, giving even more children a chance to reap the benefits sport can bring.

Look Good Feel Better is cancer support charity that helps women manage the visible side effects of cancer treatment to boost self esteem and positive attitude.  The latter are proven to correlate with improved treatment outcomes.

For St Mungos, London's largest chairty for homeless people, we volunteered to transform derelict land near Lambeth Palace into a landscaped community garden.  As well as supporting the work of the organisations themselves, these partnerships are invaluable in keeping our own horizons wide.

We're also proud to have partnered the Young Vic theatre in our own borough of Southwark. The Young Vic helps thousands of young people to realise their potential every year by nurturing their talent, confidence and ambition.  Our support helped enable 10,000 children and London community groups see productions for free and take part in inspirational workshops, productions and training schemes.

In 2011, twenty of the Blue Rubicon team walked for two days from Newcastle to Carlisle along Hadrian’s Wall to raise £10,000 for two charities supporting young people with cancer. The Teenage Cancer Trust provides expert care, building specialist clinical units and creating a home from home, while The Samantha Dickson Brain Tumour Trust has an ultimate goal of finding a cure for the biggest killer of adults under 40.  The money raised will help save lives by funding research into gene therapies.

In addition to our not for profit activity, every year Blue Rubicon supports a charity at Christmas.  In the last few years have donated money to Charity: Water an organisation that funds fresh water wells in Africa, and to Cancer Research UK, helping fund life-saving work to help beat cancer.
